We offer free and confidential advice, information, activities and support to unpaid carers living or caring for someone living in Newham. Our service runs Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.
Who are Newham Carers Community?
We are a newly commissioned service which is lead by Age UK East London, in partnership with Subco Trust and The Renewal Programme to provide support to carers and young carers across the borough of Newham. We offer free and confidential advice, information, activities and support to unpaid carers living or caring for someone living in Newham.
Who is a Carer?
A carer is someone of any age, who without payment, provides help and support to a partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour, who could not manage without their help. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, addiction or disability.
Making a referral:
Attached is the referral form for our service for adult carers. Please complete as much information as you can as this will help when we contact the carer and avoid unnecessary repetition. You can download this by following the link below.

Newham Rise can help if you:
- Are worried about the drug or alcohol use of someone you care for
- Would like to talk to someone about how another person’s drug use is affecting you.
Newham Rise provides a range of support to families, individuals and carers in Newham affected by drugs and alcohol.
Services include family, couple and individual therapeutic interventions such as:
- Counselling
- Carers’ support group
- Drugs and alcohol awareness
- Carers’ assessments
- Parenting support
- Evening clinic: 5pm-7pm.
We have a family, friends and carer service. We are here to support you if your loved one is using drugs or alcohol. We will provide you with information, advice and support.
You don’t have to be a registered carer to receive our support, and the person who is using drugs or alcohol doesn’t need to be in treatment with us. We will ensure that you can confidentially reflect on your own needs and wellbeing without any judgement.
We host a family and carers’ group every week on Fridays at 12:30pm in our Canning Town hub (3 Beckton Road, E16 4DE).
We offer one-to-one catch-up sessions covering the five steps of a family intervention. If you need it, we can also refer you to our counselling service or any partner agencies.
